So Valentines Day is all about your heart, right? ❤️
What steps could you be taking right now to protect this valuable organ?
So February is the month to celebrate love, and
…..love comes from the heart, and
….so who’s going to take care of the heart??
Well, YOU are folks!! And I am here to help you learn how!!
First off, PREVENTION is key!! (That’s why I do what I do) So how do you prevent heart disease or how do you help support your hearts health? Well here are just a few ways you can do, just that!!
❤️ Exercise!! Just 30 minutes, 5 days a week. That’s doable, right?? Since we actually have 10,080 minutes in a week, we should be able to carve out this little bit of time for our hearts sake. Right??
❤️ Nutrition!! Reduce your red meat and full fat dairy consumption. Choose lean cuts of meat and dairy alternatives like Oat, Almond or Coconut based replacements. Reduce alcohol and sugar consumption!
❤️ Lifestyle!! Try to reduce stress, maintain ideal body weight, sleep at least 5-7 hours per night, don’t smoke, reduce your screen time, especially before bed…..
ya da ya da ya da!!
I know you guys already know this stuff, so why are you reading this??
Do you just need a reminder, guilt trip, something to read while you go to the washroom??
….whatever your reason, I am glad you are!!! This is really important stuff and I know we all get so busy and just push our health aside until it’s too late.
I don’t want that to happen to you!!!
So what small things, that take literally no time at all, can you be doing to start taking care of your heart? Let’s look at some small things and then you can stack your habits from there:
Grocery Shopping - We all have to do this now so all I am asking is that you really think about what you are buying. Will that food item serve your body in a HEALTHY or UNHEALTHY way? You know those chocolate chip cookies aren’t good for your waistline (and heart health) so try picking up some organic dark chocolate instead or how about some really colourful berries if you like your plate to look appealing. If you really crave a sweet cookie to go with your afternoon tea, why not try some high protein, healthy bars instead? If baking is not your thing (and it’s certainly NOT for me) I love Lara bars and they are vegan, gluten free, low calorie and high protein! @larabarcanada ~ LOOK!! NO EXTRA TIME SPENT!! (and no I am not sponsored!)
Move your Body - I know, we are all too busy, but….do you brush your teeth? Do you wait for the kettle or coffee maker? Maybe you are stuck on Video Calls?? Do you have time to read blogs?? LOL (had to throw that in there) If you do any or all of these things, then you have time to do some lunges, squats, balance on one leg and switch….I am not expecting you to train for a marathon. Just try to walk the long way to the washroom, or park your car a few spots further. These little things all add up!! I promise!! These small steps may even leave you wanting more?? Who woulda thunk??
Self Care - I am sure you have heard the many benefits of meditating, taking long bubble baths and just taking time out for you, right?? Well, as per usual, we don’t have time!! But did you know that by simply putting on some moisturizer when you get ready, wearing matching bras and panties, brushing your hair….WOW!! Well, these are all your way of telling your brain that you are worthy! You want to feel good, inside and out!! Who hasn’t had one of those days when you are rocking those new jeans and want the whole world to know it!! That feel good feeling, is what I am talking about!! How much time did that take?? Huh? Ok, well maybe you are already doing this, smarty pants….then I challenge you to take it up a notch!! How about you try swapping out that toothpaste you were brought up on for something that doesn’t contain fluoride? What about skin care products that are clean and don’t contain any harmful ingredients?? Hmmmm….just a thought?
